Lewdness

One can easily find lewdness as they look at the bold headlines of magazines in line at a grocery store. Indeed, on many television shows and movies the problem of lewdness is rampant in the bawdy actions of characters. It has also been known to be found on the high school dance floor. What is it?

The Bible calls “lewdness” a “work of the flesh” and no Christian should have a part of it (Gal. 5:19-21). It comes from the Greek word ASELGEIA and Strong’s defines it as, “licentiousness (sometimes including other vices): - filthy, lasciviousness, wantonness.”

Thayer’s Greek-English Lexicon says it is, “unbridled lust, excess, licentiousness, lasciviousness, wantonness, outrageousness, shamelessness, insolence.”

The Bible not only condemns sexual and immoral activity, but even the conversation, imitation and shameful advertisement of these things. Have you no shame?
