Fornication

In the Scriptures, “fornication” originally comes from the Greek PORNEIA. This term can refer to prostitution, unchastity and every kind of illicit sexual intercourse. It also includes “adultery.”

In a society that normalizes premarital sex, advertises the adulterous relationships of celebrities and is aiming to legalize homosexual unions we must understand and stand against fornication in its varied forms.

Thus, to understand what is “illicit” or “unlawful” sexual intercourse we must turn to God’s Word to see what is lawful. Anything outside of the sexual boundaries God has established in His Word is “fornication.”

Hebrews 13:4 says, “Marriage is honorable among all, and the bed undefiled; but fornicators and adulterers God will judge.” Any sexual relationship outside of a Scriptural marriage is a work of the flesh and will banish us from God’s kingdom if we fail to repent.
