Mothers - Build Your Homes on Faith!

“I thank God…when I call to remembrance the genuine faith that is in you, which dwelt first in your grandmother Lois and your mother Eunice, and I am persuaded is in you also” (2 Timothy 1:3-5).

How can you become the mother other Christians can respect and grow to admire? Paul gives us the building blocks of a true home in this passage. It is not one made of bricks and mortar—a true home is built on “genuine” faith. What does the term “genuine” mean? It indicates sincerity, consistency and faith without hypocrisy.

Are you that type of mother? We can know by making several comparisons.

· Compare yourself to the “worthy woman” of Proverbs 31. Where are you failing?

· Compare yourself to the wife, and possibly mother, of 1 Peter 3:1-5. Is your beauty inward or outward?

· Compare yourself to the women of Titus 2:1-5. Are you constantly teaching those lessons?

· Compare yourself to Tabitha of Acts 9:36-39. Are your actions mainly done for others or self?

Build your home on “genuine faith.” It will make the pains of childbirth worth it as your inner qualities are reflected in your children’s spiritual lives (1 Timothy 2:15).

Think about it.
