Want to be Wise?

 

Then listen!  Proverbs 1:5, “A wise man will hear and increase learning, and a man of understanding will attain wise counsel…”

Work! Proverbs 6:6-7, “Go to the ant, you sluggard!  Consider her ways and be wise, which, having no captain, overseer or ruler, provides her supplies in the summer, and gathers her food in the harvest” (see also Proverbs 10:5).

Quit smarting off!  Proverbs 10:19, “In the multitude of words sin is not lacking, but he who restrains his lips is wise.”

Teach your friends about God!  Proverbs 11:30, “The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life, and he who wins souls is wise.”

Be gentle as you do it!  Proverbs 12:18, “There is one who speaks like the piercings of a sword, but the tongue of the wise promotes health

Do what your parents ask!  Proverbs 13:1, “A wise son heeds his father’s instruction, but a scoffer does not listen to rebuke.” 

Make good friends!  Proverbs 13:20, “He who walks with wise men will be wise, but the companion of fools will be destroyed

Quit wasting money!  Proverbs 14:24, “The crown of the wise is their riches, but the foolishness of fools is folly

Admit when you are wrong!  Proverbs 17:10, “Rebuke is more effective for a wise man than a hundred blows on a fool

Stay away from alcohol!  Proverbs 20:1, “Wine is a mocker, strong drink is a brawler, and whoever is led astray by it is not wise

Have surplus, not debt!  Proverbs 21:20, “There is desirable treasure, and oil in the dwelling of the wise, but a foolish man squanders it.”

Treat all people fairly!  Proverbs 24:23, “These things also belong to the wise: It is not good to show partiality in judgment

Don’t argue with idiots!  Proverbs 29:9, “If a wise man contends with a foolish man, whether the fool rages or laughs, there is no peace.”
