1. To remove a baby’s “original sin” since it was for believers, “He who believes,” to be baptized (Mark 16:15-16). 2. To show a believer was already saved since believers were told to be baptized “for the remission of sins” (Acts 2:38). 3. To become a member of a denomination since there were none in the time of the New Testament (1 Corinthians 1:10-13). 4. To imitate Christ’s baptism since He was baptized “to fulfill all righteousness” (Matthew 3:15) while we do so as sinners (Acts 22:16). 5. To do anything without repentance since this change of mind always preceded being baptized (Acts 2:36-38). “And
with many other words he testified and exhorted them saying, ‘Be saved
from this perverse generation.’ Then those who gladly received his word
were baptized”
“Baptism now saves us (not the removal of the filth of the flesh, but
the answer of a good conscience toward God) by the resurrection of Jesus
Christ.” That is what baptism was always meant to do, and do for you!
