Some Things Baptism Was Never Meant To Do!

1. To remove a baby’s “original sin” since it was for believers, “He who believes,” to be baptized (Mark 16:15-16).

2. To show a believer was already saved since believers were told to be baptized “for the remission of sins” (Acts 2:38).

3. To become a member of a denomination since there were none in the time of the New Testament (1 Corinthians 1:10-13).

4. To imitate Christ’s baptism since He was baptized “to fulfill all righteousness” (Matthew 3:15) while we do so as sinners (Acts 22:16).

5. To do anything without repentance since this change of mind always preceded being baptized (Acts 2:36-38).

“And with many other words he testified and exhorted them saying, ‘Be saved from this perverse generation.’ Then those who gladly received his word were baptized”
(Acts 2:40-41).

“Baptism now saves us (not the removal of the filth of the flesh, but the answer of a good conscience toward God) by the resurrection of Jesus Christ.”
(1 Peter 3:21).

That is what baptism was always meant to do, and do for you!
