Happy New Year!

The new year often brings both a time of reflection upon the past and a vision for the future.

Looking back into the past can be helpful. Jeremiah wrote, “Stand in the ways and see, and ask for the old paths, where the good way is, and walk in it; then you will find rest for your souls” (Jer. 6:16).

Was there a time in your life when you were stronger spiritually? Was there a time when you prayed, studied God’s Word, or helped others more diligently? Are there those in your past who taught you the right way to live and have you ignored those “old paths” to follow your own? It is not too late to get on that ancient path that Jesus once walked and follow in His footsteps.

As we make our New Year’s “resolutions” and try to improve upon ourselves this year, may we keep the words of the Psalmist in mind, “Unless the Lord builds the house, they labor in vain who build it…” (Psalm 127:1).

May the Lord guide your every plan for the new year. Have a happy new year.
