Culture Watch:  Monkey Business

The London Zoo recently revealed their newest exhibit—humans wearing fig leaves. Behind this publicity stunt are crafty intentions. Their spokeswoman makes their motives very clear as she says, “Seeing people in a different environment, among other animals...teaches members of the public that the human is just another primate.”

One of the participant’s motive was similar: “A lot of people think humans are above other animals...when they see humans as animals...it kind of reminds us that we’re not that special.”

Are we “just another primate?” Are we really “not that special?” These are the consequences of evolution, yet God’s Word takes a different stand.

Genesis 1:27 shows us “God created man in His own image…”—a phrase not used for any other created being. Ecclesiastes 12:7 speaks of death and says, “Then the dust will return to the earth as it was, and the spirit will return to God who gave it.”

Yes, humans are special and different than monkeys. God gave them a soul that can live in an immortal body in eternity!
