Joshua R. Welch |
|
Joshua Welch was born in 1979 to John and Gloria
Welch. He has one older sister, Elizabeth Ruwe; a twin brother, David;
and a younger brother, Nathanael. Joshua and his wife, Johnna, were
married in July of 2002. They have one son, Samuel, and two daughters, Zoe
and Hadassah.
Joshua grew up in Indianapolis and graduated from Pike High School.
Today, his hobbies include singing, reading, writing and playing various
sports. He graduated in 2002 from Indiana University-Purdue University
at Indianapolis with a degree in English Education and a minor in
Communication Studies, while also becoming a published poet. In addition
to his collegiate studies he was a national qualifier on the forensics
(speech and debate) team. He also worked as a landscape supervisor
throughout high school and college in his parents’ family-owned
landscaping business.
Though his interests are multi-faceted, his true love
is preaching the gospel of Christ. Beginning at age 16, he preached
monthly for seven years in Stilesville, Indiana. At the age of 18, he
began preaching weekly alongside his father at the High School Road
Church of Christ in Indianapolis. As a sophomore in college, he hosted
the church’s radio program five days a week titled "Prove All Things." |

Joshua has preached in lectureships and gospel meetings in Texas,
Arkansas, Alabama, Kentucky, Ohio, Illinois and Indiana. In July of 2002, after
graduation, he became the full-time evangelist at the Courtland Avenue
Church of Christ in Kokomo, Indiana. He also represented the church in a
weekly radio broadcast called Bible Forum.
Thankfully, Joshua has been blessed to grow up in a family of gospel
preachers including his grandfather, father and uncle. In addition, two
of his uncles and his father serve as bishops in their local
congregations. His brothers, a brother-in-law and several cousins also
assist in preaching the gospel from time to time. This, in addition to
the encouragement of many women (grandmother, mother, wife, aunts,
sister) in the family, is a humbling, continual reminder of the effects
God’s grace can have on a family.
