Daily Readings

Our teaching program aims to make study easy for families. Every class studies the same Bible passages and reads the same texts prior to Bible class in our structured Bible class program. This allows you, as a family, to study and talk together before you arrive to class. Further, it means you can talk together about more of what you learned after the Bible class too. Most importantly, it devotes family time to God for reading His Word and making application on a daily basis.

God expects His church to be involved in teaching (1 Timothy 2:2). However, the main burden of teaching responsibility falls upon the parents of children. Moses once wrote of the laws, “You shall teach them diligently to your children, and  shall talk of them when you sit in your house, when you walk by the way, when you lie down, and when you rise up…” (Deuteronomy 6:7). Our Bible class program intertwines both church and family Bible study into one complementary package. Hope you can come study with us.

New Teaching Program
Under Way!

Starting in January of 2008, the Courtland Ave. Church of Christ began a new approach to Bible classes. This program is a three-year program that aims to cover the entire Bible from start to finish in three years. This approach should provide a more logical framework of Biblical understanding to our students.

We have also added a teacher preparation class. This class is comprised of all the teachers who are scheduled to teach the following quarter. In this class, they study the Biblical text together, provide brainstorming ideas on how to teach and spend time preparing and praying for their upcoming lessons. This extra preparation will help the teachers be more effective thereby improving the students’ comprehension.

We hope to see you and your children in our Bible classes soon. We meet for Bible study on Sunday mornings at 9:30 and Wednesday evenings at 7:00.

Bible Drills

Sunday evenings at 5:30 p.m.

The Bible Drills Class presents a great opportunity for our children to learn Bible facts, sing spiritual songs and begin building a foundation for spiritual success.

Parents are welcome to sit and join in with their children as we learn together before our evening worship service. If you do not use your chances to teach them about God, who will?

Proverbs 22:6 says, “Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it.”

A large part of that spiritual training involves instruction in the Scriptures. Paul encouraged Timothy to recall his training as a youth. 2 Timothy 3:14-15 says, “But you must continue in the things which you have learned and been assured of, knowing from whom you have learned them, and that from childhood you have known the Holy Scriptures, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus.”

We look forward to seeing you Sunday night at 5:30!
