About the Church
The “church of Christ” is a
Scriptural name, but is by no means a denominational name (Romans
16:16). We are not a denomination. The very word “denomination”
suggests division and we firmly believe in the unity of Christians (John
17:21-23; Ephesians 4:13). We do not belong or pay dues to any
association, convention, synod or any other governing body. Instead,
our head is Jesus Christ (Colossians 1:18). We have no creed but the
Holy Scriptures to guide us as a church (2 Timothy 3:16,17). For this
reason, it would be redundant to list our beliefs…since they are already
listed for us in the Bible. Plainly, we strive to be Christians without
the denominational trappings so common in our age. Thus, the purpose of
the name “church of Christ” is simply to describe us as a body of
people belonging to Jesus Christ, and striving to do His will
(Colossians 3:17). This
simple approach to Christianity is appealing and attractive to those who
just want to do what the Bible says without corruption (2 Corinthians
11:3). Many churches are engaged in recreational, material and political
endeavors unauthorized by Christ or His apostles (Luke 6:46). Our desire
is to abide in the doctrine of Christ without swaying to our own
opinions and traditions (2 John 9; Matthew 7:21-23; 15:7-9). In so
doing, we hope that our worship is in “spirit and truth” (John
4:24). As a
body of believers, we assemble each Lord’s Day to worship Jesus Christ
(Revelations 1:10). Our worship is not designed to entertain audiences,
though we hope you find it inspiring, but is a heartfelt expression of
our faith in God and is directed toward Him. In our worship, we try to
emulate the first-century church by:
- Praying together (Acts 2:42).
- Communing together each Lord's Day (Acts 20:7).
- Contributing to the Lord's work (1 Corinthians 16:1-2).
- Singing together (Colossians 3:16; Ephesians 5:19).
- Teaching and edifying one another (Ephesians 4:11-16).
- Provoking each other to love and good works (Hebrews 10:24-25).
If your desire is to learn more about and serve the Lord with other
believers, we invite you to assemble with us. One of our greatest
encouragements throughout the week is reuniting with brothers and
sisters from God’s family (Ephesians 2:19). We hope you will join us and
experience the joy of being with God’s family and serving our Lord
together. We know we have a wonderful Father in heaven…we hope you will
join us as His children (1 John 3:1-3)!
